back to back 70s roots shots from joe morgan, his first and second ever tunes. while many know joe from his wackie s anthem basement session, joe was already producing himself in the mid 70s on his own afro black label in jamaica before coming to nyc. both of these tunes are stone cold classics long hunted by roots collectors, and the rhythms used should be familiar to astute listeners from other brilliant cuts. joe continued to record and produce himself and other artists on his own main imprint fish tea, and other labels label thru the 80s. the two tunes issued on this fish tea 12inch both originally appeared as afro black label 45 s in jamaica, and the b-side also on a pet shop label 45 in nyc

joe morgans stop them is killer late 70s militant roots, self-produced and originally released on his own jomor music house label (under the name billy joe morgan) in nyc. awesome vocal, majestic horns, heavy rhythm, a shining example of the brilliance of late 70s roots reggae and how perfectly suited the style was for the extended mix 12inch single discomix format. we ve added something special for this reissue (now on joe s main imprint fish tea). not only do we have the original 12inch replicated in full, but also an awesome and previously unreleased late 80s digital recut of the tune entitled warrior. unfortunately a dub version for this cut was never mixed, but we are grateful to have uncovered another gem from mr. morgan, one of the crucially under recorded and underrated artists of his time.

following the big success of the tmng001 catalogue, label-head yaya strikes back on his own label with another wicked release. his second ep called ‘unconditional love’ also features the first tamango remixer ever and we’re more than proud to have ‘panorama bar’ lady cassy on board. the ep kicks off the things with entitled ‘unconditional love’ which features yaya’s typical trademark groove with some extra great tribal-drums contaminations combined with a great caribbean-oriented female chant, giving life to a proper dancefloor burner. a2 is about cassy. she has been into the music industry since 2003 when she moved to berlin and she’s fresh of her latest album ‘donna’ on ‘aus music’ last year. she provides a beautiful and heavier interpretation of ‘unconditional love’, adding crisp percussions and pure analogic spatial pad, creating a dreamlike dimension surrounded by the massif utilization of pitched endless vocals. the b-side contains the dub version of ‘unconditional love’ for the ones who need a precise and outspoken tool without the vocal part. closing the ep is ‘lone wolf’ which is the prove to dispel any doubt on yaya’s producing skills: the track immediately approaches into softer sonority with nimble analogic and syncopated synths and rapid drums, with hi-hats and shakers only, for another tamango unmissable chapter.
